Tyrannosaurus RexMember6270 XPJun-29-2013 2:33 PMDecided to discuss the many inaccuracies of the Jurassic Park trilogy. I will list one or two from each movie.
Jurassic Park
They used frog DNA to replace the missing DNA in the fossils.
The scene where Grant and Sattler were holding the door shut when Sattler couldn't reach the SPAS 12, Tim did nothing (not an inaccuracy, just bugs me), and shortly after when they shot the Velociraptor through the glass, it did not sound like a 12 gauge shotgun, and the hole it left in the glass was tiny (I think they used a .22 or something similar.
Jurassic Park: The Lost World
I doubt the male T-Rex would be involved with the kid as much as it was. I guess it was because the female wasn't in San Diego.
The city scene isn't really an inaccuracy, if anything, it shows human stupidity knows no limits.
Jurassic Park 3
Not an inaccuracy as a whole, but the Spino beating T-Rex. The way Spino won was off, I have no doubt a Spino could beat Rex sometimes, but just not the way it did. Spino didn't have the wrist action needed to do what it did, and if a Rex bit Spino's neck, the fight would be over right there. Also, Rex would have actually bit an opponent, not just headbutt (Mr. Horner could at least have made the fight more accurate).
Add anything you want too, I just covered some of the basic ones.Jack of all trades. Master of none
CompsognathusMember1 XPJun-29-2013 3:57 PMWell spotted !! The tim standing doing nothing bugged me too hahah
JP1:
The spelling on the test tube dna samples Nedry steals!
The t rex breaking the glass roof of the car n then it fixes mirracuously.
Trex comes through fence but then car falls over a cliff coming from same place into a tree
JP3 when spino was chasing the ppl into the clearing before he meets t rex , he crashes out of the foilage and increases in size to like GODZILLA size ! That realllly bugs me lol especially when u freeze frame it( bad CGI)
And when grant has a dream on the plane of the raptor he visualises the JP3 raptor when he actually he has only seen the originals on JP1
Tyrannosaurus RexMember6270 XPJun-29-2013 5:13 PMDidn't they spell Tyrannosaurus with one n? And Stegosaurus with an a?
Something else that bugged me was in TLW when they were walking in the rain, Tembo had is shotgun slung over his shoulder with the barrels collecting water. It also bugged me when Tembo aimed at the Rex, pulled the trigger and realized it was empty, and then pulls two rifle cartridges out.
I am a bit of a gun nut, the gun Tembo had was a shotgun because it didn't have any sights on it, so it would have had a bead sight on it, which is only on shotguns.Jack of all trades. Master of none
CompsognathusMember0 XPJun-29-2013 7:02 PMDinosaurs-
Tyrannosaurus- Power was underrated in JP3
Rex chick was featherless in JP TLW
Too fast in the first movie. Rexy was said to be 46 ft long and 8+ tons, yet she could run 32 miles per hour. A Rex that size would only run 15-20 miles per hour tops.
Poor vision, that's bull
I love the fact that in the first movie, the Rex is inches from Grant and Lex and does not realize they are there. Sure they were sitting still and keeping quiet, but come on. The Rex could not smell them?
Spinosaurus- More robust than it really was, in my opinion
The wrist action
2 small crests above each eye instead of 1 big one in the middle of the head
There was no notch in the upper jaw
Velociraptors- Size of course
Featherless of course
Looked more like Deinonychus or Utahraptor than Velociraptor, not just size. The skull design was almost exactly like Deinonychus.
This is just a small sample and it's just the dinosaurs, let alone the other things. Still love the trilogy though, haha
CompsognathusMember0 XPJun-29-2013 7:21 PMI forgot to mention, the part in JP3 when the Spino ate the phone and it kept ringing inside of it. Then they pulled it out of it's crap and it was completely unscathed. Come on, really?

Life uh, finds a way
Tyrannosaurus RexMember6270 XPJun-30-2013 6:55 PMI know it has a lot of inaccuracies in it. Just listing some of them. Also listing things that bug you too (I.e. Small hole left in glass by 12 gauge shotgun).
Something else from TLW was when the SUV and bus exploded, the tire that flew up would have had the rim blown out.
Call me crazy, I would have used a newer, less classic car then what Malcom and Sarah used to lure the T-Rex (it was such a nice car).Jack of all trades. Master of none
CompsognathusMember0 XPJun-30-2013 7:13 PMI know right! I was like, Don't hurt the car you idiots! haha
Tyrannosaurus RexMember6270 XPJun-30-2013 7:58 PMFrom what I saw, they only smashed the windshield when they drove through the wall (idiots). Notice how Rex stepped around the car (he respected the nice car, how to tell male from female in all species).Jack of all trades. Master of none
CompsognathusMember0 XPJun-30-2013 8:05 PMVery good point, haha
Tyrannosaurus RexMember6270 XPJul-01-2013 10:13 AMRemember the scene where Grant had made that Velociraptor call by doing something to a skull in the third one?Jack of all trades. Master of none
CompsognathusMember5 XPJul-01-2013 10:25 AMin the background, you could see Tim waving his hands in the air like a dumbass, and he totally could have picked up that shotgun and gave it to Ellie or used it himself !
Tyrannosaurus RexMember6270 XPJul-01-2013 10:28 AMI know. That just bugged me so much. I doubt he could have used though. Also, when it showed the hole in the window after the shots, it bugged me because there would be a massive hole with little to no glass in it, especially after 3 shots from a 12 gauge shotgun.Jack of all trades. Master of none
CompsognathusMember5 XPJul-01-2013 10:45 AMyeah i agree, im sure there would at least be a large hole in that glass, i kinda think it was thick, tempered glass
Tyrannosaurus RexMember6270 XPJul-01-2013 11:55 AMThat's possible.
Rex Fan.
What proof is there that Spino didn't have the wrist action it did in JP 3?Jack of all trades. Master of none
Life cannot be contained, it breaks walls, crashes through barriers sometimes painfully, but uh... Life uh, finds a way
CompsognathusMember0 XPJul-01-2013 2:19 PMThey gave it the wrist action required in JP3. But a lot of articles I read say that Spino did not have the wrist action required. It's probably not just Spino, but a lot of theropods. Big ones in particular. It's just the way their joints move I guess.
CompsognathusMember0 XPJul-01-2013 3:56 PMSpinosaurus seems to be able to swat, not twist. That's one reason why it would have been a good fisher. Able to smack a large fish out of the water, kind of like a big grizzly. Side to side motion, not twisting as far as I can tell.
