CompsognathusMember0 XPNov-11-2013 10:31 AMSo, everyone knows Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Velociraptor, Spinosaurus, etc. Don't get me wrong, they all have cool names. But which of the poorly known dinosaurs had the coolest names? Let's find out.
10. Brontomerus- Thunder Thigh
Ok, so I chose this one more because I thought it was kind of funny. But funny can be cool.

9. Tarascosaurus- Spanish Dragon
Ok, don't tell me that a name that means Spanish Dragon isn't cool.

8. Titanoceratops- Titan Horned Head
Just about any name with titan in it will sound cool.

7. Dracorex- Dragon King
When your name means the dragon king, you certainly deserve a spot on this list.

6. Stygimoloch- Demon from the River of Hell
Wow, pachycephalosaurs have cool names!

5. Tyrannotitan- Tyrant Titan
Tyrannotitan certainly lives up to it's name. At 40 ft long and 5+ tons, it was both a tyrant and a titan.

4. Ekrixinatosaurus- Explosion Born Lizard
Sure, it's hard to pronounce, but it has a cool translation.

3. Teratophoneus- Monstrous Murderer
Ok, so it's "only" 20 ft long, but I still don't want to run into this monstrous murderer.

2. Sauroposeidon- Earthquake God Lizard
The earthquake god lizard! Now that's awesome.

1. Lythronax- The Gore King of the South
It's full name, Lythronax argestes, has got to be one of the coolest dinosaur names that anyone has ever come up with.

CompsognathusMember0 XP2013-11-11 10:35:00I was sure. No, I was SURE Lythronax would be first. Nice list, by the way, all of them are really cool names.Proud founder of the site Theropods Wiki! www.theropods.wikia.com
CompsognathusMember0 XP2013-11-11 10:40:00Yeah, there were a lot of names to choose from. Here's another I feel is worth mentioning...

CompsognathusMember0 XP2013-11-11 10:43:00Cool indeed. I'd mention Balaur too. It has no meaning in Greek or Latin, but in romanian it means terrifying dragon.

CompsognathusMember0 XP2013-11-11 11:24:00These are really cool names. Hmm, I just think that a name like Omegatyrannus is frikin awesome and it belongs to a 100 foot Tyrannosaur with huge 40 foot arms and shoots lasers out of its eyes. Oh, and flyes while spitting out nuclear explosions and crushing chuck Noris underfoot.Hi
CompsognathusMember0 XP2013-11-11 11:29:00Hmm, something tells me we won't find something quite like that anytime soon ;)
CompsognathusMember0 XP2013-11-11 11:36:00I'd love to see the face of the palentologist that would find that: O_OProud founder of the site Theropods Wiki! www.theropods.wikia.com

Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-
CompsognathusMember7 XP2014-01-15 04:39:00I Think you should put the Scansoriopteryx (Climbing Wing ), i'd think it's pretty cool names. and it's really cool because it,s actually looks like Epidendrosaurus ( Lizard in the tree )
Scansaoriopteryx

Epidendrosaurus

See !
CompsognathusMember67 XP2015-03-03 15:40:00AEROSTEON sounds cool
dracopelta, ANTETONITRUS (before the thunder) and animantarx (living fortress). also dracotitan, even though that's not a dinosaur. Dracotitan would be an awesome name!
AllosaurusMember4297 XP2015-03-04 15:24:00Thunder Thigh has to be the best dinosaur name in history.
Also, Stygimolich's name is Demon from the River Styx, but you were close enough. :)
