Ceratosaurus vs. Concavenator
Ceratosaurus Dentisulcatus
Length: 24 feet (7.5 meters)
Weight: 2.5 tons
Era: Late Jurassic
Location: North America, Africa, Europe
Ceratosaurs usually live in small packs or pairs. Due to their robust build and their long and muscular legs they can hunt slow and tough prey just as well as fast, but less tough prey. They have rather small hands with four digits. Their jaws are very strong and can exert a tremendous amount of pressure. They also have the largest teeth in comparison to overall body size. The horns on their snout are quite fragile and are not used when hunting prey, but the males use them in shoving matches to determine which male is stronger. The males can also pump blood into blood vessels surrounding the thin horns. They use that for intimidation and attracting females.
Concavenator Corcovatus
Length: 26 feet (8 meters)
Weight: 2 tons
Era: Early Cretaceous
Location: Europe
Like almost every Carcharodontosaurid, Concavenator has a long snout and a relatively low bite force, it's teeth are very thin and sharply serrated, they are perfect for cutting off large chunks of flesh, but can't withstand a large amount of pressure. His hand claws are rather large and very useful in combat. Even though many of the scientists on the island have observed them for months, some even for years, it is still not certain what they use their wierd sails for. They are too small to be used effecticely for thermoregulation and they don't seem to be able to pump blood into them.
Fight!
A young male Ceratosaurus is wandering around the dense forest and towards a nest. He looks at the shattered eggs and the half rotten carcass of a Ceratosaurus. He walks to it and growls softly. The dead Ceratosaurus has bite marks all over it, probably from an Allosaurus or Yangchuanosaurus. The Ceratosaurus then walks away.
He seems to be searching for a new territory, as if his old territory is bound with bad memories. He looks back at the dead Ceratosaurus one last time and then sets off to find a new territory.
After a couple of hours he still hasn't found anything suitable, except for a very large area with many lakes and a fairly big part of the main river, but that territory was already inhabited by a Tyrannosaurus. He keeps on searching. After another three hours or so he stumbles across a small pond. he is very thirsty and so he decides to take a small break. After quenching his thirst he wants to go on, but then suddenly he can sense something.
He sniffs the air and looks around, he sees a shadowy figure he was about to take a closer look when it suddenly started charging at him. The surprised Ceratosaurus was caught off guard and the similarly sized animal knocked him down. It leaped at the Ceratosaurus, but the young male managed to turn around and kick his opponent in the face.
The Ceratosaurus stood up and finally got a good luck at his opponent. It was a Concavenator about equal in size and it apparently thought that he was trying to take over this territory. The Ceratosaurus was about to leave because he had no interest in this region, it was a bit too small for his liking, but the Concavenator didn't realise that and charged at the Ceratosaurus again while his back was turned.
The Ceratosaurus was knocked down again, but this time he wasn't able to kick the Concavenator away in time and it slashed at the Ceratosaurus' back. The Ceratosaurus roared in anger. Now it was personal and the Ceratosaurus wanted to fight the Concavenator more than ever.
The Concavenator wanted to bite the Ceratosaurus' neck, but before he could do so the Ceratosaurus rolled over and tried to crush the Concavenator right away. The Carcharodontosaur jumped out of range just in time.
The Ceratosaurus stood up and this time he won't turn his back to the Concavenator. The two theropods roared at each other as a last warning. Neither one even budged a little bit. Now it was official, a fight to the death.
The Ceratosaurus snapped his jaws shut inches away from the snout of the Concavenator. The Concavenator reacted quickly and smashed his head against the Ceratosaurus' skull. They were both disoriented, but the Concavenator still followed through with his plan. After the head butt he pounced into the Ceratosaurus, he grabbed the Ceratosaurus' chest with his arms and bit the neck of the Ceratosaur.
The young male struggled and managed to free his neck, then he followed through with a forceful kick into the chest of the Concavenator. The Carcharodontosaur backed away, he had a large gash on his chest from the toe claws of the Ceratosaurus and some ribs were broken.
The Ceratosaurus regained his footing once again and stared into the eyes of the Concavenator. The Concavenator snarled angrily and performed a series of mock charges. After the fifth charge he didn't pull back quickly enough and the Ceratosaurus seized his opportunity and bit the snout of the Concavenator. He swung the Concavenator around and then threw him on the forest floor. The Concavenator was confused and everything was blurry.
The Ceratosaurus leaped onto the Concavenator. He pushed his toe claws deep into the Concavenator's belly. And then bit into the neck of the Concavenator. His bite wasn't strong enough to snap the Concavenator's neck, but his oversized teeth cut the jugular open, severed the trachea and injured the spinal cord.
The Ceratosaurus didn't let go for fifteen minutes until he was absolutely sure that the Concavenator was dead. Then he looked up and roared as loud as he physically could, announcing that he had earned a new territory.
Winner: Ceratosaurus Dentisulcatus
Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-
good fight, i was rooting for ceratosaurus. Way to underestimated in scenarios like this..good job.
Nature doesn't deceive us; it is we who deceive ourselves.
